You can be part of the investigation that is finding the answers to aviation’s greatest historical riddle: What really happened to Amelia Earhart?

  • Receive TIGHARNews email updates on the latest research and discoveries.
  • Receive the foundation’s journal TIGHAR Tracks with in-depth articles and reports on what we’ve learned, and what we’re learning.
  • Participate in research and contribute your own questions and insights via TIGHAR’s online Amelia Earhart Search Forum.

Thirty years of science-based research and a dozen archaeological expeditions have established that Earhart and her navigator Fred Noonan landed on the reef at Gardner Island (now Nikumaroro) and sent radio distress calls for five nights before their Lockheed Electra was washed into the ocean by rising ties and surf, leaving them cast away on the uninhabited, waterless atoll. Earhart’s partial skeleton was found in 1940, but misidentified. Noonan’s fate is still unknown.

Much remains to be discovered. Join TIGHAR today and be part of the adventure.
